Using Social Media to Bolster Opioid Use Prevention

STOPP social media Their use has become the No. 1 health care crisis confronting New Jersey with a drastic surge in heroin and opiate abuse. In 2021, there were 3,124 suspected drug deaths, according to the state attorney general’s website, and 2,892 in 2022. The group seeks innovative ways for prevention, as current initiatives are ineffective. The group’s study provides a new approach to opioid prevention by identifying with the adolescents’ perspective, and what they believe is important to help prevent opioid use. This will inform the development of a social media intervention (content, format, and delivery).
